Bio: Arjan is a teacher-turned-entrepreneur-turned-content creator. He has been a computer science teacher for over 20 years and has launched several startup companies. Arjan operates a YouTube channel called ArjanCodes (https://www.youtube.com/@ArjanCodes), where he helps junior and intermediate-level software developers grow into more senior roles. He also helps development teams improve how they work and deliver higher-quality software. ArjanCodes has sold courses to over 3000 developers, works with development teams at Fortune 500 companies and partners with global brands who sponsor his video content. He has recently launched Learntail (https://www.learntail.com), a new education platform that generates interactive learning material using AI.

Title: How to Use Video to Dramatically Increase Your Impact
Abstract: Creating video content about your work and posting it on social media can dramatically increase the impact of your research. In this talk I share my experience launching a YouTube channel and growing it to over 250,000 subscribers. I’ll cover the things that I learned in the process and I’ll explain the strategy I used. After that, I’ll show you how you can use video yourself to increase our impact as a researcher as well as some things to watch out for. Finally, I’ll talk about 2 additional benefits that you get from regularly posting videos online that really surprised me.
