Dr. Dimitris Protopsaltou – The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC)

Bio:  Dr. Dimitris Protopsaltou is the General Director of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) overseeing all aspects of its operation. Previously, he worked at MIRALab as researcher, PhD student, post-doc and scientific collaborator. He co-founded Future Library, an organization devoted to reinforcing the significance of Public Libraries as knowledge, creativity, and interaction-promoting institutions. Partner of the awarded Veria central public library and member of the INELI program of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Dimitris holds a PhD in Social and Economic Science from the University of Geneva. His PhD thesis was on shared virtual workspaces during arbitral proceedings. He holds an MSc in Technology Management from the Manchester School of Management and a BEng in Software Engineering from UMIST.

Abstract: The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) includes the facilities of the Greek National Opera, the National Library of Greece as well as the Stavros Niarchos Park. It has become a reference point in the greater Athens area, redefining the concept of α public space open to all, where everyone has free access and can participate in a multitude of cultural, educational, athletic, environmental and recreational activities and events. It is an architectural landmark, a sustainability hub and a global stage. The 27,000,000 visits recorded thus far represent more than just a numerical figure; they embody a wealth of human interactions, diverse experiences, innovative ideas, and boundless potential.
