THE PRESENTATION

Title: An Overview of Research in Visual Computing Post MIRALab

Abstract: The research in MIRALab provided me a strong foundation to undertake diverse research in different facets of Visual Computing later in my career. In my early years I continued research on human faces with image/video-based animation and developed a text to audio-visual talking head. Subsequently I started interfacing with computer vision and image analysis for geometric modeling and 3D reconstruction. This was demonstrated through a project on digital heritage of Humpi a heritage site declared by UNESCO in southern part of India. Simultaneously I got involved in a project on teleoperation of robotic manipulator that required creating immersive environment through augmented and mixed reality. I also had an occasion of working on computational forensic and biometrics such as fingerprints. For the last few years, I have been involved in a project Neuro-Mentor a collaborative effort with Neurosurgery department of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi, India. Here, the objective is to build modules for automatic evaluation of tasks and procedures performed by the Neurosurgery trainees. These modules rely on Deep Learning based models.
